  Anti-corrosion Comparative Test

Immerse the samples in a container with hydrochloric acid and nitric acid for 10 minutes.

Materials used:  1:1 blending hydrochloric acid and nitric acid into strong acid. Appearance before the test:  Test procedure: Putting the samples respectively into the blended strong acid: Both samples did not show up any reactions when the test began for a few seconds. After 3 minutes of immersion,we could see that the reaction of sample 1# was a bit fiercer than the reaction of sample 2#. This appearance resulted from the chromium coating of sample 2# which was being corroded by the strong acid. Because the lock body of sample 1# was forged by 304 stainless steel,the reaction of sample 1# would be stronger than the reaction of the chromium coating on sample 2#’s surface. After 5 minutes of immersion,we could see that the reaction of sample 1# was basically stopped. But the reaction of sample 2# was clearly speeding because the chromium coating of sample 2# was already been destroyed by the strong acid. After losing the protection of the chromium coating,sample 2# was being corroded at a fast rate and its lock body was bubbling. Test result: After 10 minutes of immersion from the strong acid,the 304 stainless steel lock body of sample1# was firstly corroded by the strong acid and it produced a coating that helped itself resist the after corrosion of the strong acid,which had slowed down the rate of the reaction. During the 10-minute immersion, the lock body of sample 2# totally could not defend itself after losing the protection of the chromium coating,which made it completely vulnerable against the strong acid. The lock body of sample 2# was totally ruined. Conclusion and evaluation: According to the test results,the anti-corrosion ability of sample 2# depends on the thin chromium coating on its surface,which makes it vulnerable against the strong acid and any other corrosive conditions. The anti-corrosion ability of sample 2# is proved to be unqualified. On the other hand,the lock body of sample 1# is really adaptive to strong acid and all kinds of corrosive conditions. Its anti-corrosion ability is outstanding and it achieves the requirement of our company’s sample-test.
